The mud pump is the heart of the oilfield drilling system, and the mud pump cylinder liner is an important and easily worn component of the hydraulic end of the mud pump. Therefore, the service life of the mud pump cylinder liner directly affects the service life of the mud pump.

Type

The types of mud pump cylinder liners of  Sunrise include single metal cylinder liners, bimetallic cylinder liners, ceramic cylinder liners, and nickel based alloy cylinder liners.

1.Single metal cylinder liner

After carburization and high-frequency treatment, the hardness of the single metal cylinder liner can reach HRC58-62, which has the characteristics of high smoothness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and long service life. It is suitable for use in milder corrosive slurries.

2.Ceramic cylinder liner

With the continuous expansion and worsening of human exploitation of global oil and gas resources, a large number of metal cylinder liners are frequently replaced, making it difficult to ensure the high pressure and wear requirements of drilling rigs. Ceramic cylinder liners use three major material systems: zirconia, zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA), and high-performance A-99 alumina ceramics. Its raw materials are high-purity nano zirconia and alumina micro powder, which are formed through advanced cold pressing technology, high-temperature sintering, assembly, and finally high-precision grinding and polishing. It has high bending and tensile strength, high fracture toughness, and acid alkali corrosion resistance.

3.Bimetal cylinder liner

The bimetallic cylinder liner is the most widely used and widely used cylinder liner. The bimetallic cylinder liner combines the advantages of hot forged high wear outer sleeve and high chromium wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant inner sleeve. The outer sleeve is formed by hot pressing high-quality carbon steel in one go, and the inner sleeve is centrifugally cast from high chromium cast iron. The outer sleeve has a tensile strength of over 900000psi, and the hardness of the inner sleeve after heat treatment reaches HRC62 or above. It can withstand mud pressure of 7000psi, and its inner surface is smooth like a mirror. The size tolerance of the inner hole is strict, The normal service life can reach over 800 hours.

4. Nickel based alloy cylinder liner

The product process involves coating alloy materials on the inner wall of the cylinder liner, applying vacuum sintering technology to form an alloy sintered layer. The sintered layer material is selected as high-performance rare earth nickel based alloy powder, and a micron level hard alloy material is added to evenly distribute micron level high wear-resistant hard points in the sintered layer, effectively improving the overall wear resistance of the sintered layer. At the same time, due to the extremely small alloy structure, No tissue peeling or other phenomena will occur. Due to the formation of a good alloy sintered layer and good bonding strength, the Rockwell hardness of the sintered layer reaches HRC: 60-64.

Due to the effects of trace elements such as C, Cr, B, Yb, Mn, Cu, and rare earth elements, the wear resistance of the alloy has been greatly improved, and the thermal shock resistance and crack resistance have also been improved.

The alloy material with high wear resistance also enables the service life of the coating to reach over 2000 hours, with a maximum of about 4000 hours, which is 5-10 times that of ordinary metal cylinder liners and comparable to ceramic cylinder liners. Wear resistance, high temperature resistance, high strength, high hardness, and not easily damaged, with a price far lower than ceramic cylinder liners. The key is to improve drilling and extraction progress, reduce transportation, maintenance, labor, storage and other costs of drilling.

Processing

Coat: Inspection of raw materials - Processing of rough coat - Rough turning of outer circle - Rough turning of inner hole - Hot fitting with inner sleeve- Boring of inner hole - Fine grinding - Fine turning

Inner sleeve: centrifugal casting - annealing treatment - rough turning outer circle - rough turning inner hole - semi precision turning outer circle - quenching - non-destructive testing - hot fitting and outer shell hot fitting

Heat treatment method

(1) Normalization (removing internal stress and enhancing hardness): Keep at 800 ℃ for 4-5 hours, followed by air cooling

(2) Tempering (increasing material toughness): Keep at 200 ℃ for 60 minutes

(3) Annealing (softening): Burn at 980 ℃ for 5-6 hours, then cool down with the furnace

(4) Hot charging: Burn at 450 ℃ -500 ℃ for 5-6 hours, cool for 24 hours, and then test the pressure.

(5) Quenching (strengthening hardness): Keep at 980 ℃ for 30 minutes, followed by air cooling.
